Say hello to the horses at Horse Guards
Among the elegant buildings and impressive statues in London stands Horse Guards, a grade I listed Palladian style establishment.
The ideal tourist attraction for anyone wanting to wander around England’s capital and take in some its historic buildings, Horse Guards is located between Whitehall and Horse Guards Parade.
It was built between between 1751 and 1753 by John Vardy on the site of the Guard House of the old Whitehall Palace which was destroyed by fire in 1698.
Nowadays, parades and Royal processions still pass under the arches of Horse Guards.
The building is also always protected by troopers from the Household Cavalry, both mounted and on foot, which is a popular attraction for many tourists.
Visitors can also enjoy guided tours on London Open House weekend, or simply visit the horses and marvel at the establishment’s splendour.
